Those Crazy Bible Study Guys

Two guys that love the bible, having fun and going off script invite you into their bible study they have been doing together for over 12 years! Instead of reading a whole chapter at a time, they bite off a small piece of scripture that they deliver to you just like a pizza...in 30 minutes or less!!! Using their innate curiosity and the help of their Life Application bible footnotes, their bible study is refreshing and fun! They are not bible scholars by any means but just two regular, everyday guys who turned their bible study from an obligation or Christian duty into a fun time that they look forward to and actually grow closer to God during!
Their hope is that it will provide you with a refreshing way to get into God’s word, help you see how using the Life Application bible can help you gain further insight into the scriptures and maybe prompt you to find a friend or two that you can do a similar style of bible study on your own!
Our tempo in 30 minutes or less for each episode is to:
* Open with a small discussion and prayer
* Read a small bite of scripture
* See if there are any verses that pop out to us or we have any inspired insight on.
* Read the Life Application footnotes for the scripture that was read and discuss what was shared and/or any ”ah ha” moments!
* Close in prayer.
Give us a listen and we guarantee you will have some fun with us (or at least be able to poke some fun at us)! Be great and enjoy the gift of today! :)

In this episode the hosts walk through Luke 13, exploring Jesus' short but powerful teachings on the kingdom of God. They unpack the mustard seed and yeast parables to show how something small and quiet can grow into a global, life-changing reality.
They then turn to Jesus' warning about the "narrow door," emphasizing that true entrance into God's kingdom requires repentance, a personal relationship with Christ, and earnest commitment rather than mere acquaintance or outward religiosity.
The conversation highlights surprises in God's kingdom — the humble who are honored and the respected who are excluded — and urges listeners to seek Jesus now before the door closes.

In this episode we walk through Luke 13:10–17, where Jesus heals a woman who had been crippled for eighteen years and challenges religious leaders who prioritize Sabbath rules over compassion.
We introduce the idea of the seven Sabbath miracles, review the biblical purpose of the Sabbath, and discuss how added regulations conflicted with God's intention to care for people in need.
The hosts reflect on practical takeaways: love and mercy should guide our actions, the Sabbath exists for our benefit, and helping others is more important than rigidly following rules. A brief aside explains the archaic medical term "dropsy" (edema) mentioned during the conversation.

In this episode the hosts walk through Luke 13, exploring Jesus’ warnings and the parable of the fig tree. They unpack two historical tragedies Jesus mentions (the Galileans killed under Pilate and those crushed by the tower of Siloam) to show Jesus’ point: calamity is not a measure of personal sin and everyone must examine their own heart. The central call is clear — repent.
The conversation moves to worry: how much of our lives are consumed by anxious thoughts, and how faith can reduce worry by redirecting our trust to God. The hosts share statistics about daily worry and reflect on how prayer, scripture, and a genuine relationship with Jesus can cut down anxiety and restore peace.
Returning to the fig tree parable, they explain the gardener’s patience — digging, fertilizing, and pruning to give the tree one more year to bear fruit. This becomes a metaphor for God’s grace, cultivation, and the expectation that genuine repentance produces spiritual fruit.
Practical takeaways include seeking God’s kingdom first, praying about worries, allowing God to prune and grow us through scripture and community, and responding to Jesus’ invitation to repent and believe. The episode closes in prayer, encouraging listeners to lean into God’s patience and grace and to bear fruit in their lives.

In this episode hosts discuss Luke 12, exploring Jesus’ unsettling words about bringing fire to the earth, the cost of his coming, and how faith can divide families. They connect biblical themes to everyday life—how light and darkness shape our spirits, recognizing and using our God-given gifts, and the fruits of the Spirit.
The conversation explains the meaning of Jesus’ “baptism” (his crucifixion and spiritual separation), the urgency to interpret the signs of the times, and the need to reconcile with others while there is still time. Practical advice includes asking friends and family about your strengths and serving faithfully where you are.
The episode closes with a clear call to examine your heart, build a genuine relationship with Christ, and take the present day seriously as a gift and opportunity to follow Jesus.

In this episode the hosts walk through Luke 12:32–48, focusing first on Jesus' teaching about worry and money. They challenge the listener to stop trusting in possessions, give generously, and store up lasting treasures in heaven instead of chasing temporary wealth.
Using practical examples and footnotes, they explain what it means to let God touch your wallet, how our priorities reveal our hearts, and why living generously reflects kingdom values. They also connect these lessons to real-life financial anxieties and the temptation to depend on investments or status.
The conversation then turns to readiness for Christ's return: be dressed for service, keep lamps burning, and live as faithful, watchful servants. The hosts emphasize that the timing of the Son of Man’s coming is unknown, warn against false date-setters, and call listeners to be sincere, trusting, generous, and diligent in love and witness.
The episode closes with encouragement to share the gospel—"one more" person at a time—and a prayer to help listeners live faithfully, prepare for Jesus’ return, and reflect God’s love through obedience and generosity.

In this episode two hosts riff about life — from sore muscles after workouts to the struggle of recovery — before diving into Luke 12. TCBSGs unpack the parable of the rich fool, exploring how greed, pride, and the pursuit of possessions can pull our hearts away from God.
Through conversational examples about retirement, hoarding, and downsizing, they highlight the difference between wise planning and selfish accumulation. The discussion emphasizes that abundance becomes dangerous when it replaces generosity and dependence on God.
Jesus’ teaching about not worrying is examined using the images of ravens and lilies: God cares for His creation, so trusting Him is more fruitful than anxious planning. Practical guidance is offered on overcoming worry — pray, gain perspective, and build a support team.
The episode closes with a call to seek God’s kingdom first, use resources to help others, and store up lasting treasures in heaven rather than temporary comfort on earth.

Jul 7, 2026
28 min
In this episode the hosts walk through Luke 12:1–10, unpacking Jesus' warning about the "yeast" of the Pharisees and the danger of outward religion without inner truth. They discuss hypocrisy, authenticity, and how small compromises can spread like yeast.
The conversation highlights the power of a small spark of faith that grows into clarity and spiritual growth, and reminds listeners that God sees and cares for every detail of our lives — even the hairs on our head.
Jesus' call to fear God rather than people is emphasized, along with the importance of publicly acknowledging Christ, standing up for what is right, and living a genuine, serving faith instead of chasing status or rules.
The hosts also address the serious teaching about blasphemy against the Holy Spirit and reassure sincere believers while urging listeners to give their hearts to Christ, be real in their faith, and share the gospel with others.

Discovering the Fun in a Bible Study!
We use to study the bible out of obligation or "Christian duty" but then we found out that getting together with a friend, going with the flow on how much scripture you read, getting insights from those much smarter about scripture (from a Life Application bible) and just having some curiosity and open, honest conversation was the formula of turning our "duty" into something we not only enjoyed but looked forward to doing! Listen in on one of our studies together and see if this style of studying the bible inspires you to have fun studying the scriptures and helps you grow closer to God! :)
